SIMPROCESS ARCHIVE
|
Release 4.2
- Dispatcher Service
– New feature to support Services-Oriented Architecture and Simulation On Demand
-
One Model - Many Roles:
-
Today’s model builders may require the ability to call on simulation capabilities and use the results to make automated business decisions. SIMPROCESS provides this capability through the Dispatcher Service, a Web service that can be deployed in a Web Container or an Application Server using the SIMPROCESS Dispatcher* - (Adobe PDF Format). To learn more please view the following manual and scenarios for use on page 15.
*Note that the Dispatcher is licensed separately from SIMPROCESS.
-
Connectors Now Supports Delay’s
- Along with the standard connectors (no delay), there are additional options that can support delays having a direct value (travel time) or may be calculated from a given distance/rate.
-
Concurrent Animation
- Modified animation to show time-based travel. Previously, all Entities traversed Connectors in zero time (which meant that only one Entity could animate at a time). Now multiple Entities can move concurrently through the model during run-time.
-
New Expression Statement “SOAPCall”
- New Expression Statement “SOAPCall” – Enables SIMPROCESS models to invoke methods (operations) on RPC/encoded Web services.
-
Enhanced XPDL Import
- Now supports ActivitySets and multiple top-level processes.
Release 4.2.1
- New "View" button appearing on the Documentation tab of Process and Activity properties dialogs will launch an appropriate application to handle any URL or file. See "Common Activity Input Fields" on page 63 of the SIMPROCESS User's Manual for more information, including special conditions for Linux users.
- Text Viewer window now includes an extra panel displaying the URL/File field contents of any selected Activity or Process. This button will activate and operate under conditions similar to those on the Documentation tab of Process and Activity properties dialogs described above.
- Expression language statements dealing with spreadsheet files have been enhanced to support XML spreadsheet files and to allow writing formulas. See "Interfacing with a Spreadsheet" in Chapter 10 of the SIMPROCESS User's Manual for detailed information on these enhanced capabilities.
- Generate activities can now use a new Spreadsheet schedule, which supports reading information about entity generation from an Excel workbook file or an XML spreadsheet file. See "Defining a More Complex Generate Activity" in the SIMPROCESS User's Manual for details.
- Day-Of-Week Expression language statement has been added that returns a string representing the day of the week ("Monday", "Tuesday", etc.) for the current simulation time.
- Simulation Start and End dates can now be specified in model parameters when running without a GUI.
Fixed in Release 4.2.1
- Remote plots have been corrected to handle histograms (previously omitted). Their appearance has also been fixed to be consistent with local plots.
- Exporting to XPDL no longer errors when bad Entity references are found in Branch connectors while creating Transitions.
- Resource downtimes are now limited to the capacity of the selected Resource so that using arbitrarily large numbers (not recommended) works as expected.
- When adding Pads to a Process, they will now get placed as near as possible to the clicked location rather than automatically redistributing all pads on the receiving border.
- Numerous changes have been made to correct the behavior surrounding Resource downtimes and the interruption of Entities resulting from downtimes.
- When publishing a model to HTML, the Documentation field's contents will now be wrapped at approximately 70 characters per line to eliminate the need for horizontal scrolling.
- External schedules using SPServer will now correctly handle models having spaces or other special characters in their names.
- Automatic renaming of Processes or Activities when pasted from the clipboard now correctly checks to determine whether the "Use Text Block" checkbox is selected and changes the text there if warranted.
- Batching and unbatching of Entities now result in a correct count when occurring in the same parent Process.
- The System Methods tab of the Expression Editor now includes an entry for the SOAPCall method added in 4.2.
